Discover Boating is an awareness association focused on introducing people to different aspects of the boating lifestyle. As the economy fell in 2009, boat sales dropped nearly 95%. The boating industry had to abandon traditional advertising and turned instead to social media to reach a new audience.

To connect to this new audience we created Discover Island, a boaters' haven on Facebook. The island itself consisted of every type of boating locale: a large river, lakes, streams, all set on the middle of an ocean.

We brought Discover Island to life using modeling foam, paint, and a little ingenuity. The entire world of Making Waves took place in and around Discover Island, letting visitors explore the island, challenge friends, and discover boating.
